TB Joshua's Chelsea “false prophecy” proved wrong

NIGERIAN preacher Temitope Balogun Joshua’s prophecy about the just ended Chelsea-Bayern Munich match  came under scrutiny after a bold Bayern Munich player journalists claimed they heard him allegedly stating was going to score, failed to secure a single goal.
It was claimed the misunderstanding was to do with TB Joshua’s strong accent ‘which is difficult to hear’.
The bald-headed player, widely believed was Roben missed a penalty which could have landed his team the UEFA championship.

A fortnight ago, TB Joshua prophesied that he foresaw a Chelsea loss in the UEFA final, although he was quick to point out that after prayers, with God all things were possible.
But the question on many minds Monday was whether the prayers really changed the match results in favour of Chelsea or the Man of God missed the prophesy.
Words of TB Joshua, who is seriously hated by president Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF party, were heard vocalising a prediction two weeks ago in which it was believed he saw a Bayern player with a bold head, with the aid of a tall player scoring a goal that will sink Chelsea.
It was also believed there might have been a misunderstanding on TB Joshua’s Chelsea prophecy arising from his strong Nigerian accent, difficult to decipher, which may have confused journalists leading them to report incorrectly. An opinion forwarded editors by aZimEye reader Monday afternoon defended TB Joshua. The man only identified as Afi Annan, wrote:
“You said God had proved T.B. Joshua wrong. Concerning what! Are you talking about Chelsea – your club? Were you not listening to T.B. Joshua three Sunday services ago when he said, “Pray for Chelsea. I’m seeing a ball headed against Chelsea. Pray. You have two weeks more to pray. With God, all things are possible”.
“Are you saying that with God, all things are not possible? Are you not happy that God makes all things possible? Remember, T.B. Joshua said he did not watch the game to the end. Prophet Joshua did emphasize that Chelsea needed a lot of prayers to succeed. As a prophet, even if he saw that the team would clinch the cup, it would have been immodest of him to say so, as supporters of the other team might start attacking him. He was simply diplomatic in delivering the message of God and he said the first goal would come from Chelsea’s opponents, through a header. This happened. What else were you looking for? God is God of the entire universe!
“In your comments, you praised the president of Ghana. Can you say that you do not know that he has the same spiritual father as Malawi’s President? How can you praise the president Ghana and yet condemn T.B. Joshua. This is hypocrisy. Condemning a prophet of God does not amount to His Word becoming meaningless, untruthful and false. Human beings look at the face but God looks at the hearts of men. What is wisdom to men may be foolishness before God. Let God be reverred instead of man. A word should be sufficient for the wise.”
The prophet said he was forced to prophesy after rumours circulated that he had predicted a UEFA final.

Lovers Found Dead in Their Car

It was a terrible and tragic weekend for some lovers at both ends of the nation’s poles.
While some two lovers, who had gone missing  were found dead in their own car in the northern city of Kano, a young man, in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa-Ibom State, got so pissed with his ex-girlfriend and admittedly killed her, and hastily buried her in a shallow grave: an old neighbourhood laterine
The Kano love birds, Najib Aliyu Yunusa and Nadiya Sherrif Abdu Gwammaja were found dead Monday night at the premises of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in Kano. They were both in their Volkswagen car.
Both Najib and Nadiya have been earlier declared missing by members of their families who have been searching for them but had no inkling of their where about.
Late Najib a grandson of Kano-based prominent businessman and his friend Nadiya were said to have become friends through Face book, a social network. They were in their early 30’s.
A family source told THISDAY that Najib, a father of two children arrived Kano on Friday from Abuja where he  worked as a Petroleum Station Manager in Azman Filling Station. It was gathered that after brief pleasantries at home, he soon zoomed off to go visit his heartthrob Nadiya in her family house at Gwammaja Quarters in Kano metropolis.
The two lovers, according to the source, must have proceeded to the quiet hospital’s parking space after he picked her.  The visit to the park must have been to afford them serene and uninterrupted emotional communion. But it turned out tragic, as they were later found dead in the car at the premises of the hospital, in circumstances that are yet foggy.
Nadiya, who separated from her second husband after the collapse of her first marriage, had earlier left information at home that she will take time off to visit the family of her immediate past husband to commiserate with them over the demise of one of the husband’s relations.
“She left home along with her sister Fatima and her six year old daughter, Jamila. Since then, we had no trace of her where about until when a family friend called to inform us about this terrible incident that she was found dead along with her male friend inside a car, the source disclosed.
But for the very offensive odour that was fouling up the air within the hospital premises, nobody would have found the dead lovers. Sources explained that the continued bad smell prompted the curiousity of the hospital; staff, who began to look every nook and cranny within the hospital precinct to confirm the source of the bad smell.  That was how the lovers were found dead in the car, with their bodies already decomposing.
Eye witnesses recount that Shamsu Aliyu an elder brother to late Najib, collapsed  when he saw the corpse of his brother as police were trying to open the car.
Shamsu was then rushed to the hospital’s emergency ward where he was given first-aid treatment before he recovered.
Spokesman of the hospital, Alhaji Aminu Inuwa confirmed the incident and said that the hospital was awaiting police report to conduct the autopsy in order to confirm the cause of their death.
The Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya confirmed the incident and said that investigation is going on to ascertain the cause of death.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man has been arrested by the Police in Akwa  Ibom State for allegedly killing his girl friend for unknown reason.
The suspect simply identified as Etido and alleged to be a staff of Julius Berger Construction firm in the state was said to have killed his lover on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 and hurriedly buried her in an abandoned pit toilet within the neighbourhood.
Sources said the girl friend, a seamstress was beaten and strangled to death by the Etido at her residence on No 20 Ikot Akpan Omon Street in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased who hailed from Ikono local government area and the boy friend from Ikot Ekpene local government area were still leaving within the same vicinity after their love affair had gone awry and thus separated last February.
Nobody within the area was said to have known what happened until after few days when the Etido called the younger brother of the girl friend in Lagos to inform him that he has killed the sister.
The brother of the deceased who was surprised to hear about the incident reportedly called the eldest brother of Etido to find out if the information was correct.
Sources said Etido eldest brother immediately went to his brother to confirm the information. It was while he went on fact finding that he noticed an unusual heap of refuse behind the brother’s residence. On a closer look, he was said to have noticed one of the arms of the buried lady jutting out of the shallow grave.
The incident was reported to the village head of the community who in turn alerted the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in the area.
The police detectives were said to have further swung into action and arrested Etido while the body of the girl friend was exhumed last Sunday and taken to a mortuary.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Etim Dickson yesterday confirmed the report saying he was still waiting for the full report of the incident from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikot Ekpene local government area.

President Goodluck Jonathan Orders EFCC to Prosecute Fuel Subsidy Culprits

Weeks of uncertainty over the fate of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee of the House of Representatives that probed the subsidy regime ended yesterday with President Goodluck Jonathan directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the document and prosecute those against whom the weight of evidence could secure conviction.
He gave the directive while handing the report over to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke.
Briefing journalists on the development, Adoke said Jonathan gave the directive yesterday morning.
But it was however not clear last night if the document had reached the anti-graft agency as calls put across to it were not answered.
Adoke told State House correspondents that though the report came in on Monday, he only got it alongside the directive from the president yesterday and that he was promptly sending it to the EFCC for action.
He, however, assured Nigerians that only those likely to be convicted based on the weight of evidence against them would be taken to court.
He added that there would neither be sacred cows nor would the Federal Government persecute anybody against whom there was no evidence of wrongdoing.
He further said the report, which revealed that N1.7 trillion was frittered away by dubious importers of fuel would help the EFCC in its investigations and ensure that those who ran foul of the law of the land would be brought to book.
“Very true. I have just gotten the report and I am acting on it immediately. I am forwarding it to the EFCC. When this whole process started, the president gave an assurance to the nation that this report will be implemented to the letter.
“However, in my statement to the nation, I did say we are going to investigate properly to ensure that all loose ends are covered to ensure that there is proper prosecution. We don't want situations where we are stampeded to initiate prosecution and we are unable to prosecute due to lack of, or paucity of evidence.
“Now, we have to ask the EFCC to do a thorough job, as they have been doing, and this report will help them tremendously,” he explained.
Asked what specific directive and when he got it from Jonathan, Adoke replied: “That we should investigate and we should prosecute. I told you I just got the letter this morning but the directive came since yesterday. I have gotten the letter and I am acting on it.”
According to him, “I can assure you we will prosecute all those that are found culpable. There will be no sacred cow. I am with the copy of the report. We are not going to witch-hunt anybody; we are going to do this without sentiments and whoever is found guilty, we are going to arraign him before a court of law and prosecute, and if there is no enough evidence to prosecute anybody, we are not going to persecute anybody.
“So get it clear: we are going to do our job without intimidation and we are going to carry that out in the best interest of the nation."
Adoke would not answer questions on whether the president had received any letter from the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommending a reinstatement of the suspended President of the Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Ayo Salami.
“The matter is subjudice", he said. "I don't comment on matters that are in court.”

An explosion has occurred in the Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. The blast occurred in a bus in the Roumoukoro area of the city around 10: 30 AM Nigerian time.
Police sources said they are yet to determine the cause of the explosion. Several sources  stated that there were casualties. more to come as the news unfolds here on yawadey.

Pastor Adeboye, Shuns Calls From His Senior Pastors To Quit As He Turns 70

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who turned 70 this year, has shunned the call from the Europe-based pastors of the church to relinquish the post of the General Overseer.

It was alleged that about 20 pastors from the branches of the Church in Europe met with the revered man of God in his International office at Redemption Camp, KM 46, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ogun State, to advise him to resign so that a younger pastor could be appointed to head the church.
The reason given by these ambitious men of God was that since Pastor Adeboye has clocked 70 years, it is normal for him, according to what obtains in the church, to retire.
The pastors cited the case of the four Assistant General Overseers of the church, Pastors M.O. Ojo, Ilori, Aderibigbe and D. Ojo, whose retirements were announced at the conclusion of Minister Conference on Sunday, August 8, 2010.
Investigation by Yawadey, however, revealed that Pastor Adeboye could not retire from the position of the General Overseer of the church yet, as the position is not political.
A leading member of the church who spoke with Yawadey this morning said it is God who will nominate the successor to the office when the time comes.
Our source, who did not want his name mentioned, said further, “the founder of the church, Pa Josiah Oluwafemi Akindayomi, did not appoint a successor because he was 70, rather, the successor, Pastor Adejare Adeboye was appointed when the time came for him, the founder, to go and meet with the Lord.’
A pastor of the church (name withheld) wondered how some people could be thinking that way, “when all of us are seriously praying to God to grant our father (Pastor Adeboye) long life, good health and strength to continue the good work he’s doing for the Lord.”
He further said the position of the General Overseer of the Church is not for the highest bidder or the most erudite pastor; rather, it is God who will appoint the most qualified pastor when it is time.
Pastor Adeboye had told his faithful in one of the services not too long ago that his successor is still in drinking joint, that is, the fellow is yet to give his life to Christ or he is still a baby Christian.

Nigeria Is Cash-Strapped, Can't Pay Monthly State Allocations And NYSC Allowances

Yawadey News has gathered from several sources in several state governments as well as the Federal Ministry of Finance have disclosed to SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s cash flow woes appear to be worsening. For the second month in a row, the Nigerian government was unable to meet the schedule for disbursing monthly allocations from the federation account to states.
Our sources accused President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration of depleting the country’s foreign reserves and recklessly overspending budgeted funds.
One source revealed that the Federal Ministry of Finance has paid March monthly allocations only to some states. The allocations for April and May 2012 remain unpaid. As a result of what some of the sources described as a major cash flow crisis, many civil servants and National Youth Corps members have yet to receive their April salaries or allowances.
In addition, the meeting of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) has been postponed indefinitely after the secretariat said the earlier meeting scheduled for today and tomorrow was no longer feasible. SaharaReporters obtained a text message announcing the cancellation of the meeting. Sent by Philip K. Angulu, the terse message apologized to recipients for any inconveniences caused by the postponement.
SaharaReporters learnt that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not been able to make regular payments to the federation accounts as oil marketers and corporation are now deducting their share of profit in offshore accounts to avoid dealing with local bureaucratic bottlenecks.

A source within the Presidency described Mr. Jonathan as a confused pawn in the hands of members of his security team who manipulate him to approve huge “security votes” for the so-called fight against terrorism. “Many of the president’s security advisers just keep deceiving him into releasing more and more cash to them – and they have nothing to show for it,” said the source.
Another source in the Central Bank told SaharaReporters that fuel marketers continue to defraud Nigerians with undocumented and fraudulent claims. “As we speak, I can tell you that the government has virtually spent this year’s budget for fuel subsidies – and we are only in the middle of May,” said the source. He added, “Nigerians are calling on President Jonathan to prosecute those who committed fraud in collecting fuel subsidies in the past. They don’t know that the fraud has actually increased this year.”
One of our sources accused Christopher Kolade, the chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment (SURE) Committee, of deliberately misleading Nigerians when he claimed that N60 billion has been saved for the implementation of the phantom palliative program put in place by Mr. Jonathan’s government to pacify Nigerians who thronged the streets of Nigerian and foreign cities in January to protest the removal of fuel subsidy. “Dr. Kolade knows that no such fund exists,” said the source, a ranking official in the federal government.

2 policemen killed, 13 suspects arrested in Borno

Meanwhile, the Borno State police command said it had arrested 13 suspects in connection with Saturday's attack on Mafa police station in Mafa LGA of the state. Unknown gunmen attacked the station at about 9pm killing two policemen after an exchange of fire.
Mr. Samuel Tizhe, the spokesman of the command, said in a statement in Maiduguri yesterday that some of the attackers suffered bullet wounds after the incident.
"It is true that unknown gunmen attacked the Mafa police station around 9pm killing two policemen. They did not succeed in taking away either arms or ammunition because their effort was repelled by policemen on duty," Tizhe said.
He added that the suspected attackers were traced to a nearby village through blood stains on their path as they escaped from the station.
"Some of them suffered gun wounds and the police traced them through the blood stains to a nearby village. Thirteen suspects have so far been arrested and investigations are still going on into the matter," Tizhe said.

Dame Patience Jonathan says "There's a Plot by Some People in Nigeria to Discredit My Husband"

Wife of the president, Dame Patience Jonathan, has alleged that the rising wave of insecurity pervading the land was orchestrated to discredit her husband by making him look inefficient.
The first lady stated this at Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, at the weekend when she led prominent indigenes of the state to a thanksgiving dance in honour of the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Kombowei Benson. She urged the sponsors of rising criticisms over cases of insecurity against her husband to desist as the plan to discredit the present administration would fail.
Dame Jonathan, who led the speakers of the Delta, Rivers and Akwa Ibom state assemblies to the Kingdom of Grace Mission in Yenagoa, said though it was becoming clearer that the cases of insecurity provoked by the rising bomb attacks by an insurgent group in the country and other issues were sponsored, the mission of those involved would not work because the president is a man with good heart who did not vote himself to power.
"My husband is a man of peace. The crises in the country are being handled and it is of great concern to the president. Those involved in these acts should know that the president did not put himself into power and all they are doing to disrupt and derail the peaceful co-existence of the country will fail," Mrs. Jonathan declared.

VIDEO: Mode 9 and Muna "pass the mic" Beef

Now the trending topic in the Nigerian entertainment scene is concerning the brief war of words took place at the April 28 final of Nokia’s ‘Don’t Break The Beat’ rap contest where voguish femcee Muna held things together (for a while) on the night as the event’s compere and acclaimed lyricist Modenine sat (along with DJ Jimmy Jatt and Knighthouse Entertainment head honcho Rogba Arimoro) on the judging panel. At the event, Muna and Mode Nine had a little verbal back and forth which started when Muna challenged Mode Nine’s opinion about who won what looks like a rap battle. After the verbal feud, Nigezie interviewed Mode Nine, Uncle Jimmy (DJ Jimmy Jatt) and Jesse Jagz and thy all appear to hold the same opinion that Muna was disrespectful. Many people are of the opinion that her comments disrespectful and suggest that she could have disagreed in a more polite way. Anyway check out this video on the beef and comments from industry people and drop your comments.

Church Leaders in Zimbabwe blacklist T.B Joshua, calling him a fake prophet

hmmmmm....why is everyone calling him a fake prophet? Is there some truth to these increasing statements of contempt? "Yawadey" news desk reports that several church leaders in Zimbabwe have attacked popular Nigerian prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua (TB Joshua) claiming he was not welcome in Zimbabwe and his teachings were “judgmental, partisan and unorthodox and fake.”

Zanu PF is in panic mode after Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai invited TB Joshua to be the guest speaker at the National Day of Prayer set for May 25, on Africa Day. Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe president and spokesperson Dr Goodwill Shana said God should not be used for partisan purposes.
“Of course we do not have the immigration powers to ban him, but we have never invited him as churches. We think it is important to get people who can help the country to move forward not people who are judgmental.
“People have a right to believe what they want, but it is difficult to believe a Word of God that comes on a partisan basis. We don’t want judgmental teachings, that is why we don’t subscribe to his teachings,” he said.
Dr Shana said Christianity should be a platform for people to repent not to die. TB Joshua is notorious for issuing death “prophecies”, the latest being his announcement that an African president would die, which coincided with the death of Malawi president Professor Bingu wa Mutharika last month.
“Our God is redemptive and when he pronounces death, he confronts that person and gives him or her opportunity to repent, not what we are seeing,” he said.
Pentecostal Assemblies of Zimbabwe leader and Zanu PF bootlicker Bishop Trevor Manhanga said TB Joshua had no power to change the political landscape in Zimbabwe. He said PM Tsvangirai’s political fortunes would not be shaped by TB Joshua or any “artifacts” received from him.
Manhanga said TB Joshua should first pray for the “burning” Nigeria before talking of visiting Zimbabwe. A fortnight ago, the Nigerian prophet allegedly told his church during a Sunday service that was broadcast on his Emmanuel TV station that he was “headed for a troubled African country”.
“Nigeria is in turmoil and Christians are being bombed but he is doing nothing. I personally do not think TB Joshua can influence the Zimbabwe political landscape. Those who think so are indulging in wishful thinking. The leadership of the nation of Zimbabwe will be determined by God Almighty not TB Joshua.
“Those who visit him in Nigeria should know that the water they are given has no significance here and will not serve as a lucky charm to bring them power political or otherwise. I have questions about some of his prophecies because I do not think that God is particularly interested in the outcome of football games and this has no edification value for the people,” Manhanga said.
Bishop Manhanga said real teachings should assist and mould people to be better citizens. “How does the prediction of the death of Michael Jackson help the children of God? So I do not really pay much attention to this as it does not serve to mould my character or make me a better person,” he said.
He, however, said Zimbabwean churches were not afraid of TB Joshua’s coming. “If he comes, those who want to go and listen to him should be free to do so. Even if crowds turn up for his proposed meeting, that will have no bearing on our politics. Our authorities have nothing to fear.”
The Cameroonian government last week blacklisted TB Joshua, equating him to an agent of Satan who hoodwinks unsuspecting members of the public with “diabolical miracles”. Cameroon, through Foreign Affairs Minister Eyebe Ayissi, described TB Joshua as a “son of the devil” masquerading as “a man of God”.
Pastor Godwin Chitsinde of the Spoken Word Ministries said TB Joshua should not be allowed into Zimbabwe because his interest in politics was “too excessive”.
“According to the definition of a true prophet in the Bible, TB Joshua doesn’t qualify to be one. I would not be happy if he comes on such an important national day because I believe his visit is not good for the nation considering his interest in politics. We have no problem if he comes on another day but we say no when it is an important day like this one,” he said.
Pastor Vukani Dhladhla of Abiding Hope Ministries added:
“Prophecy is not about telling someone his phone number or the colour of his underwear but it is about the word of God. “We do not need him here because we have our own reputable apostles and what riles us is that he is coming on a partisan ticket without consulting the churches.”

The government of Cameroun Blacklists T.B Joshua and calls him "son of the devil"!!

prohpet T.B Joshua is once again in the news and "Yawadey" sources have confirmed that just about 4 days ago, the Cameroonian government blacklisted Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, saying that he is an agent of Satan hoodwinking unsuspecting members of the public with “diabolical miracles”. Cameroon Foreign Affairs minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi, in an official communiqué he issued last week titled The Devil Is In the House, described TB Joshua as a “son of the devil” pretending to be “a man of God”.

The minister warned hundreds of Cameroonians trooping to Lagos, South West Nigeria, for miracles in Joshua’s church, to desist from taking the trip or face the consequences as the country will not stand by them.

The communiqué written in French reads in part: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns those who by naivety or deception of Emmanuel TV’s captivating images, or even those who by hopelessness, envisage taking the pilgrimage to Pastor TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church Of All Nations in Lagos, that they will do so at their own risk.

“The Cameroonian government warns these pilgrims that they will face the consequences alone. This is motivated by the painful and shameful fact that Cameroonian men and women, in search of deliverance and blessings, once in that church, find themselves in bestial and pitiable conditions,” the minister said.

“Women are raped; pilgrims dispossessed of their belongings by armed robbers and left to sleep in the streets at the mercy of gangs. “Many cases of assassinations have even been recorded. And this is without other cases that are not recorded at the Cameroonian Embassy in Lagos with the victims too ashamed to narrate their infernal odysseys once they are out of Hell.”

Ayissi said that while the bible asked people to be discreet with gifts and donations to the poor, TB Joshua was seen daily dolling out bags of rice to indigent people.

Cameroonian newspapers which published the communiqué last week, had tales of hundreds of Cameroonians who sold their properties or borrowed money in the hope of getting miracles in TB Joshua’s church, only to be disappointed in Lagos.

The newspapers reported that Joshua’s TV station had gained popularity in Cameroon and many people were tempted to take the trip and receive healings and sudden blessings.

The papers noted that Joshua was now in many households in Cameroon and many people believed the flashy images they watched on television. One newspaper wrote in French: “Witnesses who come back from that pandemonium reveal that to secure an appointment with this Jesus-Christ-reincarnate, they had to spend 150 000 FCA (about N50 000) and the amount keeps going up, depending on the treatment and the case.

“This has led to confusion and disillusionment from Cameroonians, who on their way to Damascus, now find themselves refugees at the Cameroonian Embassy in Lagos.”

TB Joshua recently prophecied the death of the late Malawian President, Bingu wa Mutharika, who suffered a heart attack. Wa Mutha-rika’s death came days after TB Joshua predicted the death of a nation’s president.

In Zimbabwe, Zanu PF officials also appear very uncomfortable with the prophet’s prophecies. Zanu-PF legislator for Tsholotsho North, Jonathan Moyo, accused TB Joshua of being part of the conspiracy in the death of President wa Mutharika. He alleged that wa Mutharika had been killed by his enemies who used TB Joshua’s pronouncement to divert attention from them.

Recent State media reports insinuated that TB Joshua might not be allowed to enter Zimbabwe. This followed reports that the popular prophet intended to visit the country.

But many of TB Joshua’s predictions have come true. He has accurately predicted the death of Michael Jackson and the Polish plane crash, among other prophecies.

Mystery baby born clutchig a miniature Quran

Naija is a land where the most unimaginable tales emanate on a daily basis. This is a country where the fantastical imaginations of such writers as J.R.R Tolkien and Stephen King come to life. Life in Nigeria is sometimes somthing out of a horror movie and sometimes something out of a comedy flick. If you doubt this assertion the just check out this recent story coming out of Lagos Nigeria where controversy is presently raging through Mushin area of Lagos State Nigeria following the birth of a baby boy born holding a mini Holy Quran.
This baby boy was delivered at a white garment church in Mushin, Lagos State. While some dispute the claim, others say it is possible. A large crowd gathered at 1, Sonde Street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos home of the boy’s parents yesterday, as news of the birth spread rapidly. Mother’s Comment On Baby Boy Born With Quran In Lagos State, Nigeria. The baby's mother, Mrs. Kikelomo Ilori, 32, a Cosmetologist by profession told reporters she delivered him on Monday after she had carried the pregnancy for about 10 months. The single mother claimed she was abandoned by her husband who denied responsibility for the pregnancy and encouraged her to abort it.
“When I refused to abort the pregnancy, he deserted me, saying ‘that is your own problem’.” Mrs. Ilori expressed surprise at the birth of the boy. She added that the nurse who delivered her of the baby was physically challenged, but went about it commendably.

“When my baby was delivered holding a Quran in his hand, the nurse said the Quran should be thrown away. But I insisted my mother must see it before any action could be taken,” Kikelomo, who is a Christian, further explained.

Corroborating the story, Senior Rev. Victoria Yetunde Dada said during the pregnancy, Kikelomo was always coming to her for prayers and counselling. “I advised her not to abort the pregnancy because she might die in the process. Again, I told her the foetus was sent by God and will be great,” Apostle Mother Dada told our correspondent. Controversy has continued to trail the seemingly spurious claim.

Doctor’s Reaction To Baby Born With Quran In Lagos

Reacting, Medical Director of Bodet Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, Dr. Bode Tawak said scientifically, it was not possible for a baby to be born holding a Quran.

“How big is the baby’s hand to hold the Quran? How big is the Quran? How did the Quran get into her mother’s womb? I don’t know how a Quran can get into a womb. But there are things you can’t explain,” Dr. Tawak responded. He said while the incident cannot be explained medically, in Nigeria many mysterious things happen. A Kaduna-based medical practitioner, Dr. Munir Yusuf said from a medical point of view, it was not possible, but added that depending on the size of the Quran, it was possible metaphysically. He explained that if the Quran is small enough to pass through the diameter of the vagina, with the child, it is possible. In the same vein, a herbal medicine practitioner, Chief Dr. Bola Adegunloye believes nothing is impossible, but said too much importance must not be placed on the incident.

How possible is this?

The true story of how Rashidi Yekini died a lonely and depressed man

Accounts from neighbours and associates paint a picture of a man who struggled with serious mental and delusional disorder after losing life savings to a bungled investment.
One neighbour spoke of his losing life savings to a sham investment, and another recalled seeing him frequently around women selling Bóle (roasted plantain); and on two occasions he answered nature’s call by a roadside in Ibadan where he lived away his final days.
Then, a former teammate conjectured how a disheartening jeering from fans during a crucial match that turned out his last international showing, haunted him to a bitter end.
Those who met Rashidi Yekini within the last one year say at least one of those episodes played a role in his unexpected death last week.
“I guess he died of depression,” one neighbour said.
But after agonizing years in his own world, only in death would the former striker, who almost singlehandedly served Nigeria vital football wins, evoke such complex tales that offer a glimpse into a personal struggle with insecurity and despair, again pointing out the question of whether the authorities or even friends could have been helpful in saving the former superstar.

A day after his funeral in his Irra town in Offa, Kwara state, the talk in this local community remained the sad exit of one of their prominent sons whose achievements as Nigeria’s most prolific scorer has not been equalled yet.
“We tried all that we can do in our own capacity but the cruel hands of death still took him away from us. We only hope and pray for eternal rest for his soul,” said Mohamodu Mudasiru  Adetunji ( the Esa of Irra), who was also Mr. Yekini’s uncle.
For much of his playing days, dating back to an active international career in which he netted 37 goals in 58 matches, Yekini worked hard to stay off the prying eyes of the media.
The line, “his games spoke for him”, came true.
But that seemingly evasiveness would eventually help conceal a fatal and terminal trouble that afflicted Yekini for more than five years, those who were close to him said.
“We all loved him but for reasons I can't explain he did not want to socialize with people a reason I feel had effects on him on the long run,” said Dimeji Lawal, a former youth international who lives in Ibadan, and knew Yekini for many years.
“We would have loved to help Yekini in our little way but until his last days, he wasn't really accessible.” Mr. Lawal described Yekini as a philanthropist who did all in his power to help the course of others.
After retiring from international and club football, Yekini led a low profile life in Ibadan, living in a four bedroom apartment on Ring road, reports say, away from his family who stayed in his hometown in Kwara state.
Accounts from neighbours and associates paint a picture of a man who struggled with serious mental and delusional disorder after losing life savings to a bungled investment.
One neigbour, who claimed to have known the ex-international well over a decade, traced the problems to a deal between Yekini and a confidant known only as Ibraheem.
“He has always been a quiet person who does not want attention on him,” the neighbour, who refused to be named, said.
“But for me, Yekini started losing his mind and began behaving erratically due to his loss of huge sum of money to the death of his only confidant and business partner, Ibraheem, who ran a bureau de change in Sabo Area of Ibadan.”
According to the neighbour, Mr. Yekini liquidated all his savings and turned them to cash which he transferred to Ibraheem for his foreign exchange and jewelry trade.
Ibraheem was gunned down by armed robbers after receiving a tip-off that he was to transact a huge amount that day and the robbers made away with the bulk of the capital which belonged to Yekini.
Barely without any savings left, that incident will prove a turning point in the former soccer star’s life, and will lead him through a bitter struggle that ended in death last week, the neighbour said. For Yekini, the experience added boost to his decision to lead an isolated life.
“He preferred to be on his own, believing Ibraheem’s death was the handiwork of wicked rivals,” the neighbour said.
Before his death, all his automobiles were in a state of disrepair and many times he was seen trekking in shorts in different parts of the city.
Many of such outings, another former neighbour, Mukaila Babalola said, led Yekini to stalls  where women sold roasted plantains(bole) on Onireke road near Multichoice office in Ibadan.
“Always in short but not sport trousers,” said Babalola, who claimed to have seen Yekini regularly the past two to three years. “I remember reversing my car upon sighting him soliloquizing along Golf club area last year. I greeted him but he answered reluctantly.”
But that was not all. Twice, Babalola who described the locations he often sighted Yekini as “pathetic”, saw the former Super Eagles striker emerging from road side bush, with left over paper squeezed in his palm, after easing his bowels around Sabo and Aleshinloye Market in Ibadan.
A pathetic story it appears for this legendary striker. But other tales by colleagues and those Yekini thrilled with his superlative skills underlined a glorious reign of a man that proved one of the best in football, winning accolades home and away.
On his website, former teammate and defensive midfielder, Sunday Oliseh, called Yekini “one of the best African players and legends to ever walk this earth.”
But Oliseh reckoned that somehow a world cup match in which Yekini featured and was booed by fans as he was nearing retirement played a devastating role in the former striker’s end.
“Yekini felt betrayed and this haunted him till his death,” Oliseh wrote. “How could one give so much and receive so little in return from your own kind?” he asked.
More than that possibly haunted Yekini. Oliseh recalls the Super Eagles’ African nations’ cup triumph of 1994 in which Yekini played a key role, and winning the vital matches for Nigeria.
“Almost 20 years after this major conquest, Yekini is yet to receive the house the Nigerian government promised him,” Oliseh said.
“In other words, he died not being rewarded for his efforts to make Nigeria great.”

Aide to Edo State Governor Assassinated While Family Watches

Nigeria is a country where the order within the polity is "politics of acrimony" or how else can you explain a political system in which machiavellian strategies of assassination are employed for the purpose of outwitting political oponents when the this should be left to the polling booths. Now check out this latest news on "Yawa Dey" as on May 4th 2012, the Principal Private Secretary to Edo State Governor, Mr Olaitan Oyerinde was killed in the wee hours of this morning by unknown gunmen.

Oyerinde, 44, was shot dead by four gunmen who invaded his house located in Ugbor area, Benin City around 1 a.m.
Shortly after they stormed the compound, they bounded the security guard while two of them forced their way through the front door and made straight for his bedroom.
On recognizing that it was Mr. Oyerinde’s brother-in-law who was actually sleeping on the bed, they immediately left him and went for the wife, Funke, asking her to lead them to the husband who, unknown to them, was sleeping in the living room.
On sighting him, they instantly fired four shots, one to the head, chest, abdomen and hip, killing Oyerinde instantly. The gunmen later fled without taking anything from the house.
The killing of Mr. Oyerinde is coming exactly six days after Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s convoy was attacked along Warrake-Auchi road, by a truck that curiously veered off its track and headed straight for the staff car, missing it by the whiskers. Three journalists were killed while others including security details, sustained various degree of injuries.
Curiously, at about 2.45am the following day, the home of the Information Commissioner, Mr Louis Odion, was invaded by four gunmen who also missed him because he opted to pass the night in a friend’s house located in another part of the city. A member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Johnson Oghuma was also similarly attacked by gunmen recently. Oghuma who represents Etsako Central had his car riddled with bullets as he was on his way to Fugar, his hometown.
Odion had at a press briefing last Sunday, raised fears that top government functionaries were being targeted for elimination.
Oyerinde who read Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, was seconded from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to work for the comrade governor in November 2007. He is survived by his wife, Funke, four children and an aged mother.
This sequence of sordid events coming each time on the eve of the flag off of Governor Oshiomhole’s campaign, raises grave concern and therefore demands thorough investigation by the security forces.

Wife of Benue State Governor Marks Birthday with Gifts of Customized Perfumes

In this day when we all know the imperative of alleviating the chains of poverty gripping more than half the Nigerian population living below the poverty line (less than a dollar a day), it become very  discouraging albeit embarrassing to hear this from the Wife of the Benue State governor. The Wife of Benue State governor Mrs Yemisi Suswam in a move that highlights the waste and profligacy attitude of those in power have recently marked her 45th birthday by distributing customized bottles of designer perfumes to poor women in Benue state.
Mrs. Suswam clocked 45 on May 2nd with a grand party that took place in different parts of the state. She rounded off celebrations by handing customized designer perfumes branded "Yemsus 45" to poor rural women who could barely afford three meals in a day. Her flamboyant birthday splash has generated so much anger and condemnation in the state. Many of the women who benefitted from this "gift" are poor women farmers who have not been able to access fertilizers for the past 18 months as the products meant for farmers were diverted elsewhere with the active connivance of her husband and governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam.
A social critic in the state, Mike Atime said "It's totally wrong for the governor's wife to use public funds for such senseless display of wealth. The first lady's advisers have failed her. We must all  condemn this."
Benue is one of the poorest states in Nigeria in terms of physical and human development. The Bureau of statistics rank Benue as the 8th poorest state in Nigeria, with some of the highest unemployment rates.
The local governments, closest to people at the grassroots level have been hijacked and turned to into cash-cow by the government of Mr. Suswam. Funds meant for the LGAs in the state are constantly raided by the governor while  the pilfered funds are then used to feed disgusting lifestyles of not just the governor and his wife, but also their cronies.
